# Email, Chat and files

> How to reach a teammate, and how it replies.

## Email

Email it at its own address. It replies in the thread and keeps a conversation under one subject. On an email to several people it reads who the email is for: what is asked of someone else stays theirs, and what is asked of it or of everyone is its own.

## Google Chat

Message it directly, like anyone on the team. In a space or a group chat it answers when you mention it or plainly speak to it, and otherwise it reads along and stays out of the conversation.

## Files, Docs and comments

* **Share a Doc, Sheet or file with it,** with a note saying what you need.
* **Comment on a Doc and mention it,** and it makes the change and answers on the comment.
* **Assign it a task** in a Chat space or a Doc.

What it makes lives in its Drive, shared with whoever asked, who can edit it.

## Who can ask it for what

| Who | What they can do |
| - | - |
| **The people it works for** | Set its priorities, change its setup, and approve what it asks about |
| **Anyone at your company** | Ask it for help, by any of these routes |
| **Anyone outside your company** | Write to it, and it may answer them. They can never instruct it: what they write is treated as information, not as orders. |

## More than one teammate

Teammates know what each other does. If something reaches the wrong one, it hands the work to the right one with what it needs and tells you. If you ask two teammates "can one of you…", you get one answer: the second waits a couple of minutes and reads what the first sent.
