# Add a teammate

> Delegmate creates its Google account, Drive folder and calendar.

On the dashboard, press **Add a teammate** and fill in:

| Field | What it means |
| - | - |
| **Name** | What people call it. A short name that's easy to say in a call works best. |
| **Email address** | Its address on your domain. It must be one nobody uses: an admin's account or one someone has already signed in to can't become a teammate. |
| **Expertise** | Its line of work: General, Marketing, Sales, Customer Support, People & Recruiting, Operations & Finance, Engineering or Executive Assistant. This shapes how it works and which apps it suggests. |
| **Voice in calls** | Male or female. Each teammate is given its own voice, so two teammates sound different in a call. |
| **Works for** | The person whose priorities it follows. You can add others later, up to three people in all. |

The first teammate also starts your plan, so you'll be asked for payment through Paddle.

## What happens next

Delegmate creates its Google account in an organisational unit called **Delegmate**, so your admins can set policy for teammates apart from people. Then it sets up its Drive folder and calendar. Google takes about a minute to ready a new account.

Once it's ready, the teammate introduces itself to the person it works for in Chat. Soon after, it gets [its own phone number](https://docs.delegmate.com/working-with-teammates/phone.md).

> [!TIP]
>
> Turn on Chat auto-accept for the **Delegmate** organisational unit in Google Admin, under **Apps**, **Google Workspace**, **Google Chat**. A teammate can't accept a Chat invitation by itself, so without this it can read a new conversation but can't answer it.
